What is Home and School?

The Ascension Home and School Association is the parent organization at Ascension School. Its primary purpose is to sponsor programs and activities that bring together members of the entire school community.

H & S members are represented by a nine-member board. Board members serve a one-year term, not to exceed three consecutive terms. We encourage all parents to attend a Home & School meeting, held the first Tuesday of every month.

Your participation and support in the many aspects of Ascension School life play an important part in the success of our School. While we are all very busy with personal and professional goals, we know you'll agree that contributing our time and talents to our children
and our school is a high priority.

We're asking for your participation in the following three ways:

  1. Complete the Volunteer Form (PDF) and return it by August 1.
Or, fill out the On-line Volunteer Form!.
Descriptions of volunteer activities and room parent responsibilities may also be found within the on-line form. Please indicate any activities for which you may be able to help, INCLUDING ROOM PARENT. As a reminder, all volunteers must complete VIRTUS training. For more information on VIRTUS training, please contact the school or parish office.

  1. Send in the $20 Ascension Home and School Dues. These dues provide Home and School with a financial foundation for our early activities. Dues are to be remitted in the envelope provided, payable to Ascension Home and School. Receipt of your dues entitles you to 1 copy of the Ascension School Directory (additional directories are available for $5.00 each). Directories include all provided Ascension School families’ phone numbers, classroom assignments, and e-mail addresses.

  1. Participate in our Annual Wrapping Paper Sale. This sale is our only fundraiser and provides 95% of our budget. In 2008, the money raised paid for 2 enrichment activities for each student, 3 pizza lunches, equipment for the school picnic, teacher appreciation breakfasts, and funds for room parents, to name a few activities. If you do not want to participate in the fundraiser, we still need your financial support. Please consider providing an additional donation of $50 payable to Ascension Home and School so we can continue to provide these types of activities for your children.

Please return the Volunteer/School Directory Update Form, dues, and a donation (if not participating in the Wrapping Paper Sale) by August 15th.

Thank you for your support,

Ascension School has a tradition of parents volunteering in the school. Parent involvement in the many aspects of Ascension School life is one of the keys to the success of the school.

We need planners, creative talents and often just someone willing to get their hands a little dirty and move a few lunchroom chairs. If you are interested in becoming a Board member, if you have questions or suggestions, or if you wish to volunteer for an event, please contact any active board member. It's a great way to help your child and all the children of Ascension.
