Pack the Place #1
The place was packed with Charger fans and the Chargers prevailed against the St. Luke Bearcats in all four games! Braids, bandannas and basketball – lots of great action from fifth through eighth grade teams. Ascension basketball traditions include the presentation of roses to the 8th grade girls from the 8th grade boys team, making a grand entrance through the gauntlet of fans, and decorating the gym. |

Christmas Boutique

One of Ascension’s favorite days: the Children’s Christmas Boutique. Children help children shop for affordable gifts for family and friends. Thanks to Mrs. Dossey and Mrs. Loftus for their great energy for this event. It would not happen without their generous Christmas spirit!

Fancy Nancy
Ascension’s first grade had a very special visitor this fall. Jane O’Connor, author of the popular Fancy Nancy series of early readers, came to read her new Christmas book and sign copies for Ascension students. The first graders came to school looking pretty fancy themselves! |

The 6th graders presented the gospel story of the poor widow during the Thanksgiving Prayer Service. The school also collected food for the St. Martin de Porres food pantry.

The New Instrumentarium
Mrs. Creed and her students are delighted with the new "Instrumentarium"-- a collection of musical Instruments! We are particularly grateful to Bill Komala, head of the parish Maintenance Committee, who is always in the mix, Pete Marotta who constructed a wonderful storage space in the music room, Rick Sandoval who installed shelving. |
 |
 |
|
The room is almost finished! The new storage needs just a few finishing touches. |
Our New Playground
The wet pavement is great for showing the brilliant colors of our newly painted playground. Unfortunately, the rain has kept us inside at lunch recess. The children are anxious to play on the circles, the map, new hopscotch and four-squares! |

Volunteers spent two industrious Saturday mornings all over our campus this July. Click the picture at left to see some of our fabulous workers! |
Check out this partial list of the work we’ve done: we painted about a dozen bookcases, the long west wall in the EDP room, the kindergarten bathroom, the kindergarten storeroom, and the exterior doors on Clarence Avenue. We took the lockers out of Mrs. Creed’s classroom and are building shelves into the new storage space. We cleaned stairwells all over the school. We emptied the storeroom in the Pine Room, moved what needed to be moved, and put it back together. We built new carts for storage under the Pine Room stage. We power washed and painted the parsonage! We’re sorry that you weren’t able to help – but we’ve saved the convent projects for a nice winter morning. See you then! |
