String Orchestras

Ascension's strings program includes the Sinfonia:  beginning students learning
how to read music, play together
and follow a conductor.

Excerpts from 2009:

VIdeo of Sinfonia:
"Hot Cross Buns"

Video:
"Frere Jacques" as a round.

The largest group is the Philharmonic, mostly third through fifth graders, who are tackling more difficult pieces of music. Video:
"Old Joe Clark"

The most advanced students are in the Chamber Orchestra; they listen to each other very carefully to be able to play without a conductor. Video:
"Mouret's Rondo"
