String
Program | Orchestra
Ascension's
String Program was started in 1997 and has grown every year. Over
60 students participate in the program. It is one of Ascension's
most popular extracurricular activities!
Mrs. Coffman
is the principal string instructor for violin and viola. Mr. M.
Anderson teaches cello and some beginning violin and viola students.
Small group
lessons are scheduled during the school day. Group rehearsals for
Sinfonia, Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras are at lunch.
A spacious new
Music Studio has been constructed on the lower level of the school,
and all string lessons are in the new permanent location. Monday
lessons remain in the Library, however.
Ascension String
students take part in the school's Christmas Program, and Orchestra Concerts are presented
during the school year.
IMEA Participants
Ascension Students
audition to participate in the Illinois Music Educators Association
Junior Festival Orchestra and Band.
