The Illinois Learning Standards for Science were developed using the 1985 State Goals for Science, the National Science Education Standards, various other state and national works, and local education standards contributed by team members.

Science Lab
The science tables were purchased by our generous friends at the November 2004 auction. The lab was remodeled in 2005. Thanks to all who contributed funds for microscopes, tables and balances!

Ascension Commended

On May 18, 2007 Ascension School was commended by Superintendent
Wolsonovich for its commitment to excellence in the area of Science
Education. "The year long dedication to the collaborative development of the
Science Curriculum of the Archdiocese of Chicago serves not only the schools
of Vicariate IV, but is a model for delivery
of science education within the Archdiocesan system. The Office of Catholic Schools applauds Ascension School for its participation in this worthy and important project."

The Green Club

The Green Club raises awareness of environmental issues. Students meet at lunch time twice a month.

Recycing

Currently, students recycle for the school once a week, and Ascension now recycles pop cans, too.
