The Pine Room of Ascension School is our lunch room,
social hall, assembly space and performance space.
The "old" Pine Room had not been remodeled
in many years. It was dark and un-welcoming, and all systems needed
to be updated.
The "New"
Pine Room is bright, clean and spacious. Everything is state-of-the-art,
including the new kitchen and the lighting system for the room and
the stage.
The amenities
of the room include the new, spacious ladies' washroom and the large
storage rooms, shelves and refrigeration equipment for the hot lunch
program, which began in April of 2004.
We are handicapped
accessible: there is a lift from the school lobby to the Pine Room,
and another lift to provide access to the stage.
During construction
a private Music Studio was built just outside of the Pine Room doors.
Ascension String and Band students are using this wonderful Studio
for instrumental lessons.

A cello lesson in the Music Studio.
Parishioners
and students welcomed the transformation of the old room into
the beautiful renewed room. Members of the Maintenance Committee
devoted hours of their own time to help with this project. Our
thanks to all contributors to the beauty of this space. |
The Project:
Work on
the Pine Room began in June of 2003, immediately after classes
were dismissed for the summer. Work continued during the school
year without the loss of a single school day.

The "Time
Capsules" of Ascension memories made by students and placed
by Fr. McNally are now sealed within the walls.
On January
25, 2004 many parishioners stopped over for a tour of the Pine Room!
Members of the String Orchestras played on the new stage, and
everyone was delighted with the room.
February
18, 2004 the first Parish Town Hall meeting was held in the
new space.
On February
23, 2004 students returned to the Pine Room for lunch for the first
time since last June! Ms. Burns and Fr. McNally served ice cream
to all lunchtime students as a Thank You for their patience. The
temporary lunch facility was the gym balcony! We are delighted
to be in this clean, bright room.
We look forward
to many happy new memories in the transformed Pine Room.

a Pine Room memory to share? Lynn Fredrick at the Development
Office would love to hear from you!
