Introduction
The Terra Nova assessment was published by CTB McGraw-Hill in 1997. The Terra Nova Multiple Assessments "is a combination of the selected-response items of the Survey edition and a section of constructed-response items that allow students to produce their own short and extended responses."
The Illinois Learning Standards are a common set of expectations developed to help Illinois deliver quality public education to all students. The Standards summarize for parents, students, teachers, and the public the knowledge and skills children need to learn in school. They were developed at the direction of the General Assembly and published in 1997 after nearly three years of study. Nearly 28,000 Illinois citizens contributed to the process. The Illinois State Board of Education is committed to fully implementing the Standards.
